- and comment on addressing these questions and more...

- How should code samples be presented? What kind of samples?
- What helps you most when developing code?

- If your main job is code development for software/hardware programming
- -- Talk to us! We seek a cross-section of professionals who are:
- - from large and small companies
- - part of large development teams or working on their own
- - developing databases, drivers, networking software,
- in-house, commercial applications, etc.
- - very experienced UNIX developers
- OR
- - new to UNIX, but have years of experience developing
- programs for mainframes, PC, Windows or Mac

- TOPIC: DECENT CODE SAMPLES! (A FOCUS GROUP)

- DATES/TIMES: Choice of "ONE" of these dates/times:
- Tue, Feb. 13 9:30-11:30 Wed, Feb. 14 9:30-11:30
- Tue, Feb. 13 4:00- 6:00 Wed, Feb. 14 2:30- 4:30

- LOCATION: SunSoft's Usability Engineering Center in
- Mountain View, CA. A map will be provided.

- PURPOSE: The goal of the focus groups is to better understand your
- needs and discuss ways of improving sample code in hard
- copy and online documentation. We are interested in your
- ideas about the presentation and types of code samples.

- DURING THE STUDY YOU WILL:
- - Bring examples of any source you have found helpful when developing code,
- e.g. manuals, Web pages, notebooks, quick guides, etc, if available.
- - Discuss your likes, dislikes, concerns, and ideas about code samples.
- - Participate in group with 2-3 other developers with C or C++ experience.
- - Receive a special gift in appreciation of your time and feedback.

- WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO:
- - write code as 40% of their job
- - have 2+ yrs. total programming experience
- - currently or intend to program on UNIX
- - have 6+ months UNIX experience (not necessary to be on Sun)

- ALSO: - Are willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement
- - Are willing to be video taped during the study
- (your identity will be kept in confidence)
- - Work/live within driving distance to Mountain View, CA
- - Preferably, do NOT work at Sun Microsystems, Inc.
